Privacy and entertainment notice.

This page is not part of the story. It explains what these websites are and how they handle your information.

Entertainment only

Zaibatsu Neural Super Intelligence (ZNSI) is not a real company. These websites are works of fiction, made for entertainment.

Everything on znsi.ai, status.znsi.ai and api.znsi.ai is fiction, including:

  • the company, its parent company, its people, offices, fab and history;
  • its products (KIRIN chips, the MUGEN models and the KIZUNA interface), along with their specifications, benchmarks and prices;
  • its research papers, figures and citations to its own reports;
  • its news releases, statements, job listings and charter;
  • its status page, its incidents and its uptime figures;
  • its API. api.znsi.ai answers real requests, but every reply is scripted for the fiction: there is no AI model behind it, no account to open and nothing to buy. Working API keys exist, including one published in the documentation, but a key is a password for this fiction, not an account.

Any resemblance to real companies, products, people or events is coincidental. Nothing here is a statement of fact, an offer, professional, medical, financial or technical advice, or an invitation to apply for a job, join a trial or do business. Please don't rely on it for anything outside the fiction.

Who this covers

This notice covers the websites at znsi.ai, status.znsi.ai and api.znsi.ai (the “sites”). They are run by an independent creator (“we”, “us”), not by any company. The sites have no accounts, sign-ins, payments, forms or comment features.

What we collect

Because there are no accounts or forms, we only receive information in four ways:

  • Server logs, which record the technical details of each request to the sites;
  • API requests, if you call api.znsi.ai;
  • Analytics, which measure how the sites are used in aggregate;
  • Email, if you choose to write to an address on the sites.

We use this information only to run, secure and improve the sites. We don't use it for advertising, and we don't sell it.

Server logs

Like almost every website, the sites' servers and network provider automatically log requests. A log entry typically includes your IP address, the date and time, the page or file requested, the response, the referring page, and your browser's user-agent string. We use these logs to deliver the sites, keep them secure (for example, to detect and block abuse), and diagnose problems.

API requests

If you send requests to api.znsi.ai, the API service logs each request's method, path, status, timing, request ID and the kind of key used. It doesn't log what you send, your key or your IP address. To make the fiction work, it keeps some of what you send in memory for a while, and only in memory: the questions asked within a memory_scope (the last 20, for up to seven days), recent conversations for previous_response_id (one hour), and counts of how often each question is asked each day. A restart of the service clears all of it. Please don't send personal information to the API.

Analytics

The sites use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how they are used: for example, which pages are visited, roughly where visitors come from, which browsers and devices they use, and how quickly pages load. Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use cookies or local storage and does not track you across other websites. A small script from Cloudflare collects this information when a page loads and sends it to Cloudflare, which reports it to us only in aggregate.

Cookies and browser storage

The sites themselves don't set cookies or use local storage, session storage or any other browser storage. Our own JavaScript only animates pages, runs a clock and opens the mobile menu, and doesn't send anything anywhere. Cloudflare, which delivers and protects the sites, may set a strictly necessary security cookie in some circumstances, for example to tell real visitors apart from automated traffic. That cookie isn't used for analytics or advertising.

Email

The sites show email addresses ending in @znsi.ai, such as press@, careers@, api@, harmony@ and kizuna@. Although they belong to the fiction, mail sent to them reaches real mailboxes that we read. If you write to us, we receive your email address, your message and anything you attach. We use these only to read and, where appropriate, reply to you, and we won't add you to any mailing list.

Because ZNSI is fictional, please don't send job applications, requests to join a trial or for API keys, or personal, medical or financial information. There are no real jobs or trials, and we don't issue API keys by email: the key published in the API documentation is the one to use.

Sharing

We don't sell or rent your information. We share it only with the service providers that run the sites and our email, and only so that they can provide those services. Cloudflare delivers, protects and measures the sites; see the Cloudflare privacy policy. Our email and hosting providers store mail and logs on our behalf. We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to protect the sites or their visitors.

Retention

We keep server logs and analytics only as long as they are useful for running and securing the sites, then delete them or keep them in aggregate form that no longer identifies anyone. We keep email for as long as needed to deal with it, and delete it when it is no longer needed.

Your choices

You can browse the sites with a content blocker that blocks the analytics script; everything works without it. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, or to have it corrected or deleted. To make a request, write to the address under Contact.

Children

The sites are not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

If these practices change, we will update this page and its effective date.
