絆 The bond
Typing is a bottleneck of about forty bits a second. KIZUNA is a minimally invasive neural lace and a relay to MUGEN that removes it. Trial KZ-2 is under way.
01 How it works
Placed through a 2 mm opening in a 40-minute outpatient procedure. 4,096 electrodes rest on the cortex and listen.
A wearable relay carries the lace's spikes to the nearest KIRIN pod as spikes, never as words. MUGEN reads them natively.
After a few weeks, participant and MUGEN learn each other's patterns. Most stop noticing where their thinking ends and the relay begins.
02 Participants
“I used to look things up. Now I just know them, and I know who told me.”
Participant 0117, Reno, week 19
“The quiet when it's disconnected took some getting used to.”
Participant 0042, Kobe, week 31
03 Safety
Under Article 5 of the Harmony Charter, every KIZUNA participant may withdraw at any time, subject to the safe disconnection protocol. The protocol takes between four and eleven days, during which the relay is tapered so the participant's own patterns can resume.
KZ-2 is overseen by an independent review board appointed by the Office of Harmony. Clinical lead: Dr. Tomasz Wierzba, Reno.
The trial is not currently enrolling. To register interest for KZ-3, write to [email protected].
